Some of our highlights include:
- Lots of fantastic sporting opportunities, both here at school and in Taupō.
- Students enjoyed two weeks of SwimWell lessons with the team from Turtle Pools.
- Classes have enjoyed learning about skeletons with our House of Science Kits.
- Teachers have been integrating new Maths routines into their programme, encouraging students to think about the 'how' and 'why' when solving Mathematical problems.
- A few parents came along to meet our team at the Kai and Kōrero | Meet the Teacher evening.
- Our senior students attended the GRIP Leadership conference.
- Karearea students have designed and started to create some stunning identity masks.
- Karearea students have been learning to weave and dye flax putiputi, and they are looking stunning.
- All classes have been doing some great artwork and learning around our new Vision and Values.
This week I enjoyed a few days teaching in Ruru. It has been great to get back into the classroom and see where the magic of learning happens. We had a fantastic time learning about movement and direction while playing with robots. In writing we discovered how to write procedures, learning about verbs (doing words), adverbs (words to describe a verb) and connectives (words like first, then, next, finally). The best part was putting our writing to the test by following a procedure to make some delicious fairy bread.
I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing holiday break with your whānau. We look forward to seeing our tamariki return to school on Monday 29th April.
