Principal's Catch Up

Wowser, we are officially half way through the last Term for 2024!
It's been a quiet week at Kuratau School with almost half of our students away at camp in Wellington. Judging by the photos on our Facebook page it looks like they've had an awesome time. It's been great to see them explore some sights in Wellington and work together to solve challenges and take some calculated risks while completing activities at the El Rancho Camp.

Camp is a perfect opportunity for our tamariki to further develop many of the NZ Curriculum's Key Competencies:
- Managing Self - looking after their belongings, helping prepare kia and tidy up in the kitchen, keeping their bunk rooms tidy, completing their jobs each day etc.
- Thinking - solving problems and completing camp activities - raft building, crate stacking etc.
- Relating with Others - all week students have had to work in groups with their peers - listening to each other's ideas, sharing ideas and compromising with each other. They've had to listen and follow instructions from a wide range of people.
- Participating and Contributing - students have had to get 'stuck in' all week. They've displayed an excellent 'can-do' attitude and kept going all week - making the most of each new opportunity they encountered.
Massive thank you to the parents/caregivers who volunteered their time this week to help at camp. For those of us left behind at school, we are looking forward to hearing all about their stories when they return to school next week.
REMINDER: Teacher Only Day - Monday 13th November.
We are closed for instruction on Monday 13th November. Teachers will be working together to unpack the refreshed NZ Curriculum.
Next Wednesday is Inter-School Athletics. Mrs Pyman has been in touch with those students and families that qualified to attend this year's event in Taupō. Good luck to our athletes that will be attending.
Thank you to the few parents who attended our face to face Kai and Kōrero sessions. Your feedback is valuable and we appreciate the time you took to attend and share your whakaaro. It was a great opportunity to enjoy some delicious kai and chat about our school. Reminder: if you couldn't attend one of the face to face sessions, we encourage you to complete the online survey which was emailed out last week (or see the section below for a link to the online survey).
Have a superb weekend.
