Principal's Catch Up
Shirley Bailey
Welcome to the end of Week 3. What's been happening at our Kura?
It has been fantastic to have a full week at school this week.
Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to our whānau for being so supportive and understanding about our school closures last week. We are very grateful that the Cyclone did not affect our school significantly and our hearts go out to those schools and communities that have experienced significant disruption and destruction.
Please check out our community notices below with regards to how you can support those affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.
Next week we will be holding our Kai and Kōrero evening. Please make sure you read this section of the newsletter. We are looking forward to connecting with our families at this event.
Next week we have a busy week:

Next week we have a busy week:
- Our Year 7-8 students will be heading to Rotorua on Tuesday 28th February for a GRIP Leadership course.
- The GRIP Student Leadership Conference is unique in that it concentrates specifically on training student leaders for their role as SCHOOL LEADERS. The goal is that our senior students will leave the conference with a clear vision, a solid understanding and dozens of ideas for their time as a leader.
- Year 4 - 6 Students will participate in the Pedal Safe training programme, delivered by Taupō District Council. The programme is aimed at delivering best practice cycle skills training. Information and consent forms have already been sent home.
- Year 4 & 5 Students - 27th February, 2023 at school
- Year 6 Students - 28th February, 2023 in Turangi, supervised by Whaea Lena
Our annual Triathlon is coming up in Week 5. Check out that section of the newsletter for more information.
Our students have been enjoying daily swims and our pool is starting to warm up nicely - reaching 26 degrees yesterday! Due to the Cyclone we were able to push out our Swimwell lessons to start next week. Remember to send your child to school with their togs and towel everyday.
Have a super weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you at next week's Kai and Kōrero evening.
Kia pai te ra!
